Silicone is the liquid of choice
for serious kaleidoscope makers when making liquid kaleidoscope chambers.
It is clear, colorless, odorless. Pure silicone in 2 viscosities, 500 or 1000.
500 is similar to water, 1000 more like syrup. Viscosities can be
mixed. So why doesn't everyone use silicone?
Well, mostly because you have to buy it by the gallon (or more) and it costs
close to $100.00 per gallon!! We can't do much about the price per
gallon, BUT, we can make it available in smaller (read cheaper) quantities.
Don't buy a gallon when you can buy a pint!!
*PSF-500cSt and PSF-1,000cSt (centistoke)
viscosities. 100% Polydimethylsiloxane Fluids (Pure
silicone). The
difference in viscosities is determined by the length of
the molecular chains.....PSF-1,000cSt is a longer chain
and thus a thicker viscosity than 500cSt. |
